4 Steps to Cesare
Hello Fellow Friends of The Borgias,
We have decided to follow in the footsteps of other successful fan campaigns, but we’re going to need your help, everyone’s help. First on our agenda is to continue participating in any twitter event scheduled. We need to keep #SavetheBorgias relevant, and attract new viewers to this wonderful program, and people to our movement. The Borgias is now streaming on Netflix, so we can stick with our Notime for Showtime front and at the same time, promote the show through Netflix. We also need to Get Out The Vote and try to get as many votes for SMGO.tv as possible. This will really help our cause. Our Get Out The Vote Twitter event will be held every Saturday. The reason SMGO.tv is so important is that we need funding. If we have funding, even if it’s just a little bit, the more likely our chances are of being picked up by another network. At this point I’m sure most of you know David Nevins of Showtime will not budge, and the show will not be renewed on that network. So we need to pitch the conclusion to a different one. Which leads into our next agenda, funding.
After some research, we found a campaign that was successful in acquiring funding from a popular business franchise. This show was Chuck, and the franchise that funded their next season was Subway sandwiches. The campaign asked their troops to drop a suggestion in the comments box of Subways everywhere, asking for that business to please sponsor another season of their favorite show, Chuck. Being the smart business Subway is, they listened to their customers, and the rest is history. We’re going to use the same tactic, but with Starbucks too! The Borgias fans are worldwide, and so are Subway and Starbucks. These two businesses are also everywhere, and that works in our benefit! We have written up a suggestion in a word document (also available in pdf) for everyone’s convenience. All you have to do is download it, hit print, and cut. Have the comments handy, carry them in your wallet and/or purse, your pockets even. Or, you can write your own. So far, we have translated the comments for the Subway and Starbucks suggestion boxes in French, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, and Hungarian. And now for, targeting another network.
We urge you all to subscribe to Netflix!!! It’s only $7.99 per month. Like Subway and Starbucks, Netflix is a global-minded business. Very soon, Netflix will be available in many more countries! After you subscribe, find The Borgias in the search box, add it to your list, and rate the show. 4 or 5 stars is our recommendation, but 3 is adequate (we feel anyone in this campaign definitely thinks this show is a 5 star show). Also, write a review about The Borgias! The more good reviews and stars, the more likely we’ll be noticed by Netflix. Why Netflix? Netflix has been known for picking up shows that were cancelled, and finishing them (i.e. Arrested Development, The Killing, and is now in talks of renewing others). Well, we want one of those “others” to be The Borgias! We definitely have the upper hand here seeing that all we need is one final season/conclusion.
So friends, to sum it up, our tactics look like this:
#1 Participate in Twitter events to keep our show and #SaveTheBorgias alive
#2 Keep on getting votes at SMGO.tv
#3 Get sponsorship from Subway and Starbucks
#4 Subscribe to Netflix, rate the show, write a review, and re-WATCH! (there will be more about a letter/email writing campaign and twitter events for Netflix that will be announced soon)
